"I joined DFA because I was interested in learning about human-centered design and how I can apply it to the work that I want to accomplish in my 4 years at UIUC as a Sustainable Design major. Empathy was also a major factor, because not only is it an important aspect of the HCD process, but it is important to me as well, in a value sense. Putting yourself in people’s shoes is important for understanding their needs to better help them, and I feel that DFA strives for that understanding and creating user centered solutions. I wanted to be involved in creating solutions that have a lasting impact."

It’s at DFA that I understand anyone and everyone can be a designer to better the world around them."
